What goes into a fencing works quotation

Fencing looks like a simple line on a drawing. In practice a quotation that holds up on site has to account for ground conditions, corner and straining posts, gates, clearing and the standard the client is actually being held to.

The perimeter is only the starting point

Length gives you the material quantity. It does not tell you how many straining posts a route with bends will need, how many gates and access points have to be built in, or whether the line crosses drainage that needs special treatment. We walk the line before we price it wherever access allows.

Ground conditions change the foundation

Post holes in soft sand and post holes in calcrete are not the same task. Rock means percussion or coring and a slower rate of progress. A quote that assumes easy digging across the whole route is a quote that will come back with a variation.

Clearing is part of the job

Most fence lines need a cleared servitude before the first post goes in. Because we also do debushing and vegetation management, clearing can sit in the same contract rather than being handed to a separate contractor and priced twice.

Specification and standard

Game fence, stock fence, security fence and boundary fence carry different wire specifications, heights, post spacings and strainer details. We state the standard we are pricing to so you can compare quotes on the same basis.

If you have a perimeter to fence, send us the route and the standard you need and we will price it to scope. Contact us.
